Environmental impact studies
One study after another - the challenges presented by the project
Water tests, wildlife surveys, observations of migratory birds, vibration reports - these are just some of the numerous examinations carried out within the framework of the environmental impact study. In addition to route planning and bridge construction, the demands of the environment and nature represent a considerable examination outlay for the project planners. The "protected assets" are considered individually and as a whole, and reconciled with each other. Protected assets include people, their health, fauna, flora, biodiversity, soil, water, the climate, landscape and other cultural assets.
The necessary and requisite extent of examination varies with the planning phase. An initial environmental study has already been carried out within the scope of the regional planning procedure as part of the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link project. New, large-scale mapping and extensive considerations are necessary for project approval.
